These strips exemplify the visual vocabulary that emerged in newspaper comics: sequential panels advancing a narrative, speech balloons conveying dialogue, and recurring character types. The left strip shows slapstick humor through physical comedy and exaggerated expressions. The right panels demonstrate how artists developed visual continuity—the same characters and situations progressing across frames. Both employ dense crosshatching and ink work typical of the Sunday and daily newspaper page format.
