Ripley's format—stacked panels with hand-lettered captions—became a visual template for newspaper comics, establishing the rhythm of image and text that would define the Sunday page and daily strip. The recurring "Believe It or Not" brand turned curiosities into a serial experience, inviting readers to return for more improbable human records.
