Here Betty's father attempts to retrieve a lost object from the ocean while her mother offers contradictory advice, leading to physical comedy and slapstick resolution. The strip's layout—six panels across three tiers—was standard for Sunday supplements, where comics became a mass medium and established the panel-and-balloon syntax that would define comic books. Voight's figure drawing and perspective show the technical sophistication newspaper cartoonists had achieved by the late 1910s.
