Launched in 1913 by McManus for King Features, *Bringing Up Father* was among the earliest strips to develop a recurring cast with continuous domestic comedy, running more than eighty years and directly shaping the visual conventions — panel grids, expressive silhouettes, character consistency — that newspaper syndicates exported into the first comic books of the 1930s.
