Jiggs, amused and magnanimous, gives his home address and trots off pleased with himself. McManus's draftsmanship is elegant: crisp crosshatching, Art Deco interiors, figures in formal dress rendered with practiced economy. Launched in 1913, the strip ran for decades in syndication, its recurring characters and panel-to-panel continuity helping establish the narrative conventions that daily newspaper comics passed directly into the first comic books of the late 1930s.
