George McManus launched *Bringing Up Father* in 1913, running it for over four decades. Its clean ink line, expressive caricature, and brisk balloon-driven pacing made it one of the most widely syndicated strips in the world, and its collected reprints were among the earliest newsprint pamphlets that prefigured the comic book format itself.
