Buddy Tucker
· June 4, 1905

This Sunday strip follows young Buddy Tucker through a domestic comedy centered on children's clothing and adult vanity. The narrative unfolds across six panels: Buddy protests wearing a corset, his aunt defends the garment's necessity, a shop scene displays fashionable children's accessories, and the sequence concludes with Buddy's resigned acceptance. The strip employs the visual conventions established by newspaper comics—sequential panels, speech balloons, and a recurring child protagonist navigating the adult world. By 1905, Sunday comics had become essential newspaper features, driving circulation and establishing the visual language that would define the medium: panel borders creating narrative rhythm, character consistency across episodes, and humor derived from both situation and dialogue.
