Drawings by Wallace Morgan employ cross-hatching and bold line work typical of early-twentieth-century newspaper illustration, establishing the visual vocabulary that would define comic strip language: panel borders directing eye movement, exaggerated poses conveying action and emotion, and sequential art telling complete stories within the Sunday page format.
