The Diary of Snubs, Our Dog

A single-panel Sunday comic strip narrated from a dog's perspective. Snubs chronicles a day of mishaps and learning: surprising the Boss, visiting with Sponge and learning to shake hands, meeting the Boss after school (who doesn't understand the offered paw), and finally earning praise for new tricks. The strip uses sequential vignettes within one frame to show temporal progression—a layout technique that bridges newspaper gags and the emerging comic book form. Speech balloons anchor each scene's narrative, while sketchy linework and simple character design reflect the economical style of 1920s daily comics. The anthropomorphic protagonist gives voice to a household pet, a popular device for gentle humor aimed at family newspaper audiences.
