The Diary of Snubs, Our Dog
A six-panel Sunday strip narrated from a dog's perspective, following Snubs through a day's adventure from hiking trip to unexpected street-car ride home. The artist employs sequential panels with narrative text blocks and speech balloons to advance the story across the page. Snubs encounters construction workers, loses his way, flags down a moving trolley, and boards with bemused passengers. The recurring character and first-person narration reflect the newspaper comics' growing sophistication in character development and storytelling. Simple line work and expressive animal anatomy were hallmarks of 1920s daily and Sunday strips that established the visual vocabulary later adopted by comic books.
