The strip employs the visual language that defined 1920s newspaper comics: panel borders directing eye movement, dialogue balloons advancing plot, and recurring characters in serialized gags. *Ella Cinders* ran as both dailies and Sunday pages, exemplifying how newspaper strips created the sequential art grammar later adopted by comic books—overlapping panels, expressive linework, and episodic storytelling that could stretch across weeks.
