Lemons, a Cent Apiece

A four-panel newspaper comic by F. G. Long featuring a character reading evening papers. Each panel presents a headline-driven gag: free thaw with every paper, Delmas biting Jeromes's ear, jury seeing a man with the jims, and thaw eating up his lawyers. The strip employs speech balloons, sequential panels, and exaggerated facial expressions typical of early 1900s comic pages. Recurring characters and topical humor anchored daily and Sunday newspaper comics, which provided the visual and narrative foundations for the emerging comic book medium.
