Fizzboomski the Anarchist—He Falls Down in His Job
· February 17, 1907

A six-panel Sunday page following Fizzboomski, a character whose anarchist schemes routinely backfire. The strip uses sequential art's emerging vocabulary: paneled layouts, speech balloons, and physical comedy across time. Early panels show Fizzboomski hiding in a barrel to ambush the Royal Guard with a bomb; subsequent panels reveal the device misfiring, creating chaos that leaves him bewildered. The anarchist plot dissolves into slapstick—falling barrels, scattered tools, and the protagonist's repeated failure. This exemplifies early newspaper comics' use of recurring character types and visual gags to drive narrative momentum, establishing conventions that would define the medium as it evolved from Sunday supplements into the comic book format.
