The Adventures of Kitty Cobb

James Montgomery Flagg's *Kitty Cobb* appeared in Sunday newspapers as a serialized adventure strip, following a young woman and her companions through romantic and comic misadventures. The strip employs the visual vocabulary that defined early newspaper comics: sequential panels with dialogue balloons, exaggerated facial expressions, and cross-hatched ink work. Recurring characters and ongoing narrative arcs kept readers returning weekly. By 1912, such Sunday supplements had become mass-circulation vehicles, establishing the formal and narrative conventions that would shape the comic book medium. Flagg, best known for his patriotic poster art, demonstrated the versatility of cartooning in entertainment journalism.
