The strip employs the visual conventions that defined early newspaper comics: multiple panels arranged left to right, speech balloons advancing narrative and gags, and recurring characters in everyday situations. *Harold Teen* exemplified the humor strips that dominated Sunday and daily pages in the 1920s, establishing the format and pacing that would become foundational to comic books and graphic storytelling.
