The Importance of Mr. Peewee, the Great Little Man

A four-panel Sunday strip following the diminutive Mr. Peewee through encounters at upscale Manhattan locations. Each day of the week presented a new scene: Peewee impresses at Cherry's restaurant, gains entry to an exclusive café, meets society figures at a fashionable lunch spot, and dines at Del's while a phonograph plays. The strip employs the visual conventions pioneered in newspaper comics: multiple panels advancing a narrative, speech balloons containing dialogue, and a recurring protagonist whose small stature drives the humor. The sequential art format, vocabulary of panel borders and gutters, and character-driven continuity establish the visual language that would define comic strips and eventually comic books.
