Kid-ology by Ned Woodman
· February 23, 1920

Ned Woodman's *Kid-ology* offers practical advice on child development through comic narrative. The strip combines two panels: on the left, a child stretches in bed upon waking; on the right, the child sits contentedly before sleep. The accompanying text explains the physiological necessity of adequate sleep for growing children—recommending eleven hours for younger children and nine for teenagers—and advocates for consistent bedtime routines including prayer. Woodman employs the visual conventions emerging in early newspaper comics: panel division, expressive figure drawing, and speech integrated with image. Such strips popularized the comic format while delivering information to family audiences.
