Jimmy—He Sees Some Fellows Boxing!
· September 12, 1909

This Sunday strip follows young Jimmy as he encounters a boxing match in progress. Across twelve panels, the narrative unfolds through sequential art—speech balloons, action lines, and expressive caricature—as onlookers react with alarm and amusement to the fight. The strip exemplifies early newspaper comic conventions: recurring child protagonist, urban setting, slapstick humor, and the visual grammar of panel progression that newspapers popularized in the early 1900s. Such strips appeared in Sunday editions and daily papers, establishing the visual and narrative framework that would define American comics for decades.
