Mamma's Angel Child Initiates the New Cook
· March 7, 1909

This Sunday comic strip follows a mischievous child's escalating chaos in the kitchen, told across six panels in classical newspaper comic style. The recurring character—a curly-haired troublemaker—torments the household's new cook through pranks: removing her coat, sabotaging meals, ruining her clothes and apron. The strip employs word balloons, sequential action, and exaggerated physical comedy typical of early 1900s newspaper comics. The visual grammar—distinct panel borders, expressive linework, and sight gags—exemplifies the emerging comic strip form that transformed newspapers into vehicles for visual narrative and helped establish conventions later adopted by the comic book industry.
