This daily strip follows Tighwaddo, a miserly monk who attempts to save money by purchasing penny chewing gum for indigestion rather than visiting a doctor. The comic's humor unfolds across six panels in a linear narrative: Tighwaddo discovers the gum dispenser, invests his coin, loses the gum to a swindle, reports the theft to police, and receives sympathetic advice.
