Mr. Jack

This strip follows a recurring cast through six panels of slapstick comedy. A man attempts to surprise his husband at a private door; chaos erupts across the sequence—physical gags, mistaken identity, and escalating mayhem. The strip employs the visual vocabulary standardized in newspaper comics: numbered panels, speech balloons, exaggerated expressions, and continuous character action driving the narrative forward. By 1904, such daily strips had become essential newspaper features, establishing the formal and narrative conventions that would define comic books when they emerged as reprints of newspaper material in the 1930s.
