An extraterrestrial correspondent documents Earth customs in this early newspaper comic. Mr. Skygack, a Martian visitor, records observations in a subterranean cavity—a thin metal box serving as notebook. The strip's visual language relies on the established grammar of sequential art: multiple figures in a single panel, speech balloons carrying dialogue, and exaggerated expressions to convey humor. The recurring character of an alien observer allowed the strip to satirize human behavior through defamiliarization.
