Old Doc Yak Collects His Bill Not
This Sunday strip follows Old Doc Yak through nine panels of escalating physical comedy as he pursues payment from a reluctant debtor. The narrative unfolds across a snowy landscape: the doctor makes his demand, gets rebuffed, attempts collection by force, and ultimately flees—culminating in a final panel where his victim cheerfully waves goodbye. The strip employs the visual conventions standard to newspaper comics of the era: sequential panels, speech balloons for dialogue, and recurring character types. Doc Yak represents the anthropomorphic animal protagonists that populated early Sunday pages, offering slapstick humor through exaggerated action and expression rather than wordplay.
