Outbursts of Everett True
A daily newspaper comic strip following the cantankerous Everett True and his family. This panel captures the strip's humor through domestic conflict: True's son Willie reports his father's boastful bar conversation to his mother, who confronts him sharply. The strip employs the visual conventions emerging in early comics—sequential panels, speech balloons, caricatured expressions—to convey rapid-fire dialogue and escalating embarrassment. *Outbursts of Everett True* was among the first strips to center character and personality over pure slapstick, establishing the domestic comedy format that would become foundational to the comic strip medium in newspapers and early comic books.
