Outbursts of Everett True
· April 24, 1906

A two-panel strip featuring the irascible Everett True offering gardening advice to a neighbor. In the first panel, True leans over a fence recommending seed placement and depth. The second shows the neighbor's exasperated reply: True will offer guidance only when asked, and only if the neighbor keeps chickens off his property. The strip exemplifies early newspaper comic conventions—recurring character, speech balloons, sequential panels advancing a simple gag. True's volatile personality provided the comic tension that drove the strip's humor and popularity in daily papers of the era.
