Outbursts of Everett True

A Sunday newspaper comic strip built on the violent reactions of its titular character. Here Everett True explodes at a baseball game, his outrage triggered by a perceived fielding error. The strip's visual grammar—multiple panels flowing left to right, speech balloons capturing dialogue, exaggerated expressions and gesture—became foundational to American comics. The recurring protagonist and his predictable eruptions created a template for character-driven humor that newspapers across the country would adopt.
