A two-panel Sunday strip featuring Everett True, the cantankerous protagonist who responds to social situations with exaggerated physical comedy. In the top panel, a card sharp offers to demonstrate a trick; below, True's "strong arm trick" sends the con artist flying through the air in a cyclone of motion lines, while onlookers scatter in alarm. The strip employs the visual vocabulary of early comics: sequential panels, action lines conveying movement, speech balloons, and recurring character types. Artist James Swinnerton pioneered this visual language in the 1890s, establishing conventions that became the foundation of newspaper comics and eventually comic books.
