Outbursts of Everett True
A single-panel comic strip featuring Everett True, a perpetually outraged character who voices moral objections to everyday absurdities. Here he confronts a woman about her son's behavior, launching into a tirade about women's suffrage and ballot reform. The strip employs the visual conventions that newspaper comics had newly standardized: speech balloons, exaggerated facial expressions, and caricature to convey emotion and comic timing. *Outbursts of Everett True* ran in daily newspapers and became a model for the humor strip format that would dominate twentieth-century comic pages, proving that recurring characters could sustain reader interest across hundreds of installments through situation comedy alone.
