Outbursts of Everett True

A two-panel comic strip depicting Everett True, an irascible protagonist defined by violent overreaction to minor social offenses. In the first panel, a man casually mentions that Miss Smith has married Rich Young Jones; in the second, True erupts into apoplectic fury, physically attacking the news-bearer. The strip employs the visual conventions now standard to comics: sequential panels, speech balloons, expressive line work, and a recurring character whose exaggerated responses drive the humor. These newspaper dailies and Sunday strips of the early twentieth century established the visual language that would become the comic book form—panel progression, dialogue integration, and character continuity that readers would follow week after week.
