A Sunday strip featuring Sam, a fast-talking salesman, visiting a customer's home and encountering the family's children. The three-panel sequence shows Sam's exaggerated reactions and physical comedy as he navigates domestic chaos—a hallmark of early newspaper strips. By 1930, strips like this had established the visual conventions still used today: regular characters, sequential panels advancing a gag, and expressive line work. Newspaper comics of the 1920s–30s served as the direct prototype for the comic book format that would emerge by decade's end, with artists developing the visual grammar of action, dialogue balloons, and sight gags that defined the medium.
