Silk Hat Harry's Divorce Suit

A Sunday newspaper comic strip by Tad Dorgan featuring Harry, a well-dressed protagonist caught in matrimonial chaos. The strip unfolds across six panels with rapid-fire dialogue and physical comedy: Harry's wife pursues him with a rolling pin, he flees through a door, encounters a judge and legal proceedings, and narrowly escapes various domestic disasters. The artwork employs the visual conventions developing in early 1910s newspaper comics—sequential panels, speech balloons, and exaggerated character expressions. Recurring characters and domestic farce themes typified popular Sunday supplements of the era, establishing templates for comic narrative that would influence the emerging medium.
