She cadges caviar on toast at a sample counter, charms a cook into serving her a full chicken lunch, then drifts to an ice-cream soda fountain before arriving home to report an extravagant free meal to her husband. Speech balloons carry the rhythm; expressive dotted frocks and exaggerated reaction poses do the comic work. The strip belongs to the flowering of newspaper dailies in the early 1920s—that dense syndicate ecosystem of recurring characters running six days a week—whose panel conventions, balloon lettering, and serialized cast would be literally scissored and bound into the first comic books a decade later.
