The Teasers: Bobby Makes It Warm for All
This six-panel Sunday strip follows Bobby's domestic mischief after he overhears an adult's joke about using a gas stove as a table. The humor escalates through visual gags: Bobby constructs a makeshift table from the warm stove, inviting playmates to gather underneath for warmth, which backfires as the heat intensifies and feet begin burning. The strip employs the visual conventions standard to early newspaper comics—sequential panels with speech balloons, recurring child characters, and escalating physical comedy. The family setting and child protagonist reflect the popularity of domestic humor in turn-of-the-century newspaper comics, where visual misinterpretation and slapstick consequences drove narrative momentum across multiple panels.
