The Teaser's Bobby Lands the Wrong Party
· 1905

This Sunday comic strip follows Bobby, a mischievous boy who attempts to tap cider from a barrel with a hose—only to drench himself and nearby children. The strip demonstrates key innovations of early newspaper comics: recurring child characters in domestic mischief scenarios, sequential panel layout showing cause and effect, and dialogue balloons advancing the gag. The six-panel structure guides readers through escalating chaos, a visual grammar that became standard in newspaper dailies and eventually shaped the comic book medium itself. The strip exemplifies the humor formula popular in early-1900s newspaper supplements.
