Tenderfoot Tim Makes a Good Shot, But He Doesn't Bag the Turkey
This Sunday strip follows Tim's Thanksgiving hunt in eight sequential panels. The narrative unfolds through speech balloons and sight gags: Tim spots a turkey, takes aim, fires—and misses, hitting everything but his target. The final panels escalate the chaos as his shot ricochets into the camp, scattering hunters and triggering an explosion. The strip exemplifies early newspaper comics' visual grammar: recurring character, modular panel layout, sequential action, and dialogue advancing both plot and humor. Such strips appeared in Sunday supplements nationwide, establishing the formal and stylistic conventions that shaped comic books to come.
