Tweedledum, Tweedledee and the Other Triplet

This Sunday strip follows three identical triplets through four sequential panels, establishing character and gag through repetition and variation. Panel One introduces the conceit: one triplet asks "Just like me?" while another boasts "I kin lick two / Jest like you!" The second panel multiplies the cast to three; the third assembles all characters for a physical climax; the fourth explodes into abstract mayhem—stars and motion lines replacing figures. The strip employs the visual grammar emerging from newspaper comics: speech balloons for personality, panel sequence for narrative pacing, and exaggerated physicality for humor. Recurring characters and predictable yet satisfying escalation became hallmarks of early comic strips that would eventually define the medium itself.
