Karl and Fritz Play a Joke on the Pomeranian General

This Sunday comic strip by Victor Schramm of Munich uses five sequential panels to tell a visual gag involving two characters, soldiers, and a military general on horseback. The strip demonstrates the formal grammar of early newspaper comics: distinct bordered panels, pantomime action, and escalating physical comedy.
