This Sunday page from the *Omaha Daily Bee* reproduces Richard Outcault's Buster Brown, the strip he launched in the *New York Herald* in 1902 after his groundbreaking *Yellow Kid* work. Buster — round-collared, bangs cut straight across — appears here alongside his bull terrier Tige, the pair whose likenesses Outcault licensed so aggressively they became one of American commerce's first character brands. The strip runs in the paper's full broadsheet format, its rectangular panels arranged in the horizontal tiers that Sunday editors and syndicates had standardized by 1905. Outcault helped fix that grammar: sequential panels, integrated speech text, a recurring child protagonist whose weekly mischief and closing 'moral' gave readers a story loop. Sunday pages like this one are the direct ancestor of the comic book pamphlet that would emerge in the 1930s.
