Titled "And Furthermore—" with the subtitle *Happy Hooligan Didn't Sign the Wedding Articles!*, this twelve-panel Sunday page follows the bumbling Hooligan through a legal misadventure involving a judge, a contract, and a spectacular hat-related collision in the final panels. The strip runs top to bottom in three tiers of four, each panel dense with speech balloons driving a single escalating gag. Frederick Burr Opper launched *Happy Hooligan* in 1900 for Hearst's papers, making it one of the earliest strips to sustain a recurring cast across years of weekly pages. Opper's thick brushwork and crowded compositions helped codify the visual grammar — sequential panels, integrated dialogue, physical comedy payoffs — that Sunday supplements pioneered before any comic book existed.
