Project for Drapery

This Italian design study by Romolo Achille Liverani exemplifies nineteenth-century ornamental draftsmanship. The sheet presents variations of festooned fabric arrangements, tasseled swags, and decorative motifs arranged as reference material for applied arts. Upper sections show full drapery compositions with suspended garlands and fringe; lower portions isolate botanical and architectural ornaments—palmettes, scrollwork, and hanging elements—for modular study. Such pattern books and working drawings served architects, decorators, and manufacturers, providing a systematic vocabulary of period taste.
