Soldier with Sword and Pipe

This sketch by Winslow Homer depicts a standing soldier in military uniform, rendered in quick pen lines with minimal shading. Homer made such drawings during the Civil War while working as a correspondent and illustrator, capturing soldiers at rest and in camp.
