Furniture Designs: Stools and Tables
These engraved designs showcase decorative furniture frames from the eighteenth-century French tradition. The upper register presents two ornamental X-frame stools with scrolled supports and central medallions, rendered in fine line work typical of technical illustration. Below are two table designs—one with straight tapered legs and applied ornament, the other with curved cabriole legs and elaborate carved details. Such pattern-book engravings served as reference material for craftsmen and cabinetmakers, establishing proportions and stylistic vocabulary for rococo and neoclassical production. The precise draftsmanship demonstrates the coordination of form, structure, and decorative enrichment essential to furniture making in this period.
