Architectural Design for a Bathing House

This engraved elevation and floor plan depicts a symmetrical bathing pavilion attributed to French architect Daniel Marot. The design features a domed central rotunda flanked by curved colonnades and flanking pavilions with mansard roofs—characteristic of Baroque classicism. The floor plan reveals the functional interior: circular bath chamber at center, surrounding galleries, and service spaces. Marot's designs were instrumental in establishing Continental architectural principles in Northern Europe and England, where his pattern books circulated widely among patrons and builders during the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
