Architectural Doorway Elevations

These two elevation drawings by Daniel Marot showcase classical architectural details characteristic of Baroque design. The left elevation features a curved pediment with a fanlight window above paired double doors, flanked by fluted columns with Corinthian capitals. The right presents a simpler portico with a flat entablature and similar paired doors. Both compositions demonstrate the symmetrical proportions and ornamental vocabulary—rustication, balustrades, and refined moldings—that defined Marot's influential approach to European interior and exterior design during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. These engravings served as pattern books for craftsmen and architects across England and the continent.
