Italian artist Attilio Simonetti rendered this ink study of a figure in period military dress, employing the loose, gestural line work characteristic of nineteenth-century academic training. The composition captures a standing soldier in three-quarter view, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, doublet, and breeches typical of early modern European warfare. Parallel hatching establishes volume and shadow across the torso and legs, a technique foundational to printmaking and illustration.
