Sketch, Figures with Equestrian Monuments

This compositional study by Italian artist Fortunato Duranti explores figural arrangement and spatial relationships through loose pen work and wash. Multiple human figures interact with monumental equestrian sculpture, rendered in quick gestural lines that establish pose and movement. The layered, overlapping forms create depth across the picture plane, while the artist's pentimenti reveal working process—lines crossed out and redrawn as composition evolved.
