Study after 'At Icart Point, Guernsey'

William Trost Richards, American landscape painter (1833–1905), produced this coastal study near the turn of the century. The work depicts rocky cliffs meeting turbulent waters off the Channel Islands, rendered in Richards's characteristic luminous palette of blues, purples, and ochres. Working from nature, Richards built his compositions through careful observation of light and atmospheric conditions across sea and stone.
