Eight of Hearts Playing Card

This eight of hearts comes from a French playing card set produced during the Second Empire under Napoleon III. The card features a clean, symmetrical arrangement of eight red heart symbols on cream-colored stock, typical of mid-nineteenth-century French card manufacturing. B.P. Grimaud of Paris, one of Europe's premier cardmakers, produced cards for both domestic use and export.
