Light Fixture Design for Allen Residence
Frank Lloyd Wright, American, 1867–1959 · 1917

Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural sketch for a custom light fixture and glass disc panel designed for the Henry J. Allen residence in Wichita, Kansas. The drawing demonstrates Wright's integrated approach to interior design, combining structural and decorative elements. The upper section shows the fixture's profile with suspended supports and metal detailing, while the plan below indicates the placement of plain and glass panes within a wooden frame measuring 54 by 71 inches. Handwritten notes specify materials and construction details. This working drawing reflects Wright's principle of designing complete environments where lighting, furnishings, and spatial divisions formed a unified whole rather than afterthoughts to architecture.
