Design for Lidded Jar

This hand-colored design shows a porcelain lidded jar decorated with pink and black flowers and red spherical fruits against a white ground, topped with a geometric patterned lid. Noritake, established in 1904 but drawing on earlier design traditions, created ceramics for Western markets by blending Japanese motifs—flowering branches, naturalistic rendering—with European vessel forms and decorative sensibilities.
